Holding people accountable

On my mind today: humanistic leadership should be compassionate, but at the same time, we NEED to start holding people accountable.

Because I teach how to stop bullying and harassment, I hear stories of people who have endured bullying and harassment in the workplace and tried to make it stop and the managers didn't hold people who bully responsible.

We have had human rights abuses occur (through multiple presidencies) and no one has been held accountable.

We just found out that someone involved in Gamergate went on to become a well known white nationalist who was just arrested for depriving people of their vote in 2016.

Maybe, if we held people accountable when they first started behaving badly, instead of giving them a pass, things wouldn't get worse, they would get better.

Is it easier to give people a pass?  Yes. But it comes at a cost. We need to have the courage to change the things we can. When someone behaves badly, hold them accountable for their actions.
