Humanists call themselves Humanists because our philosophic tradition stems from the study of Humanity, or umanista as the Renaissance Humanists called it. But it is really the fact that we Humanists have a love of Humanity in general that makes our name so appropriate.
Treating all of humanity as equals and as truly human as you view yourself and your friends and family is not an easy task. But it is well worth it and necessary if we are to create a more peaceful and just society.
